Permanent Make Up
Frequently Asked Questions
What Is Permanent Make Up?
Micropigmentation is an aesthetic speciality that aims to modify, correct, make beautiful and rebalance certain facial or body features in a semi permanent way. Medical grade pigment is implanted in the upper dermal layers of the skin using a micro needle. It is a safe and effective way to enhance features for natural looking results.
How Long Does It Last?
A colour refreshment is required to maintain the permanent make up treatment every 12-24 months. The depth of the implanted pigment and the pigment type along with various other factors such as medical conditions, medications, skin types and lifestyle influences smoking, sun and lifestyle determine the longevity. Generally the darker the pigment colour means a longer lasting colour, therefore lighter pigments may need more regular colour refreshments.
Can Everyone Have The Treatment?
In certain uncommon circumstances permanent make up treatment may not be suitable, however a full medical consultation is carried out prior to the treatment. This will identify any medical treatment or medication that may prevent a permanent make up procedure.
How Will The Treatment Benefit Me?
Eyebrows are an essential feature of our face; a part of human expression and communication that allows us to show our emotions. If you have little or no hair, having a permanent eyebrow treatment will create a complementary frame to your face, lifting and defining the eye area. Fuller and more defined permanent eyebrows will fill in sparse hairs creating a more attractive balanced shape to uneven, over plucked eyebrows and will add definition & depth of colour to fair eyebrows.
Eyeliner is a popular time saving treatment, enhancing your eyes with an accurate delicate liner that lifts to extend the outer corner. A lash enhancement will add a subtle natural definition by darkening the lash line.
A lip blush treatment will redefine your lip contour if you feel a loss of volume creating a beautifully shaped cupid’s bow. Lips will look fuller.
Are There Any Risks?
A full medical consultation is carried out prior to your treatment where we identify any known contraindications to the treatment. In addition to this if you have had no allergic reactions and the pre- and post-care instructions are followed there are no risks to your health. Our products and Pigments are very advanced and in full compliance with European legislation and local council guidelines. Our needles and pigments are sterile single use and we have strict hygiene protocols to ensure the health and safety of you and our therapists.
Is There Any Downtime?
Theres no downtime following your make up treatment, however you eyebrows will be significantly darker than the healed result. After around 5-7 days you can expect flakes of pigmented skin to have fallen off. With eyeliner and lips you may have slight swelling for 2 – 5 days. The area may be slightly red, tender and flaky during this time.
Can Permanent Make Up Be Removed?
The colour will slowly fade over time between 2 and 5 years but can be removed professionally with specialist laser equipment. If you are considering the removal of permanent make up then please let us know. We are able to recommend a suitable qualified highly experienced professional.
